In order to highlight Greenhouse’s importance as a meeting place and stepping stone to reality, six design studios and previous Greenhouse exhibitors were selected to showcase their work in Prologue - a group exhibition and cafe by Scottish-Swedish designer Nick Ross in the Greenhouse area at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2018.
The chosen designers were Nendo (Oki Sato), TAF, Front Design, Gamfratesi, Afteroom and MSDS. They have all exhibited in Greenhouse early on in their careers and later went on to be successful in the industry.
“Showing at Greenhouse gave us our first real insights into the importance of marketing and sales in the furniture industry.”
“Greenhouse was a great platform to show our projects for the first time. It was very important because we had the opportunity to meet people and companies and to get in contact with our first manufacturer to start a collaboration.”
“Greenhouse was our first major show. We were so excited and had worked days and nights after classes at Konstfack for months. It was such an amazing feeling when the exhibition opened. We still have a similar feeling today when we have an exhibition opening or a new product is launched.”
“It was a critical time at a moment when we were just starting our own design studio. Showing at Greenhouse meant to us an important examination of weather our vision was right or wrong”
“Showing at Greenhouse taught me many things as a designer, about form and function, about how to treat materials in a very honest way, it was about emotions; how design communicates feelings. I think that was a great start as a designer. During that week I was connected to Swedese, who chose my stool to be a part of their collection. This was my first furniture piece to be produced by a company.”

“Our practice transformed overnight, really. A bunch of our designs were picked up there, and we began several enduring collaborations.”
